the weather is strange
The weather is strange these days in Taiwan. It was pouring down this morning around 6 am. Fortunately, it stopped when I went to school. It rained heavily again for about one hour. The air was crisp then. At noon, it was getting balmy. In the evening, it's chilly. The significant temperature difference reminds me of Egypt, the desert, and the end of the world.
Today is not unusual among this year. It supposed to be spring or at least getting warmer to wear short-sleeved. It's not. It was once or twice over 30 ℃ after Chinese New Year. It feels like endless winter now. Flowers were deceived by the weather. Everyone get confused as well.

Why does "like dissolves like"?
It is generally believed that "like dissolves like". It means polar solute dissolve in polar solvent, while non-polar solute tend to dissolve in non-polar solvent. According to the van der Waals force, does permanent dipole-induced dipole forces larger than London dispersion force?
From thermodynamics, G=H-TS, not only the enthalpy but the entropy changes the Gibbs free energy. For polar system, positive and negative charges attract on another. However, in non-polar system, weak attractions between solute and solvent molecules make the entropy dominant.
What happens when non-polar and polar molecules are added together? Polar molecules tend to bind each other and push non-polar molecules out of the way.
